Friends Meeting House is used by The Religious Society of Friends or Quakers. The Meeting House is in the heart of York, near the City Centre and not far from Clifford's Tower but within a challenging and restricted site. As well as being used as a Meeting House by the Quakers it is also a popular with many other groups who rent the rooms.

The Quakers had a brief that required more lettable rooms and spaces together with better circulation and improved facilities. For practical and funding reasons the project has been split over two distinct phases.

Phase One. The new extension provides new stairs and a lift with two new wonderful meeting rooms overlooking a re-landscaped and rejuvenated oasis of a garden.

Phase Two. These works will provide new First Floor accommodation, internal re-ordering and refurbishment.

Phase One was shortlisted for the York Design Awards 2015

“The design and the outcome of the work undertaken has been much appreciated and we look forward to signing another contract with PPIY.”
